future foundationComing up to a month after the close of Hotelympia, we thought now would be a good time to reflect on our first exhibition experience in over 10 years.

Firstly, a huge thank you to everyone who came to visit our stand, we shared a number of exciting conversations with potential customer and suppliers alike. Also thank you to the organisers, Fresh Montgomery for hosting an excellent show.

We did not know what to expect going in to the show, we didn’t know if we were in the correct position within the hall, if our stand was big enough, if our stand was bright enough, if we could compete with the other finalists in the innovation awards, if we had enough staff, if we had too many staff!

future foundationCome the opening bell, all the pre match nerves and apprehension went away. Although we did have to wait nearly an hour for our first lead…and a very long hour it was. One thing that impressed us about the show was the high quality of leads we received.

After the nerves had settled, it was time to get the butterflies once again as we had to present our pitch for the Hotelympia Innovation Awards in the Catering Equipment Category.

We had one representative from Pneu-Therm and one from Höller Buffet Solutions introducing the judges to the innovative hot and cold food display plate manufactured by Höller. Unfortunately, we were beaten by a worthy winner, Carpigiani, with their combined ice cream and milkshake dispenser.

As a whole Hotelympia was a successful and enjoyable experience, gaining us some good leads and credibility within the industry. For example Andrew Seymour, one of the judges of the innovation awards and the editor of the Foodservice Equipment Journal, had the following words of encouragement

‘There were some interesting concepts if you looked hard enough. Pneu-Therm’s combi plate, which can be switched from cold to hot in less than 20 minutes, could massively simplify life for operators that struggle with hot/cold changeovers and buffet counter removal. Unsurprisingly it has already caught the attention of Costa, which is trialling it in three stores.’
