It is 35 years ago since Bruce Springsteen’s iconic anthem ‘Born in the USA’ – acclaimed as one of the 500 greatest songs of all time – was released. Used by Ronald Reagan in his 1984 Presidential campaign, to highlight ‘American values’ (despite the song’s ironic antipathy to the ‘American dream’) it eventually went on to become Springsteen’s signature track and the rest, as they say, is history.
Twelve years earlier in Chicago, entrepreneurial engineer, Fermin Adames Sr, launched Tempco with just three employees and a 1500 sq. ft. factory to manufacture electric heating elements for a wide range of industrial, commercial, scientific and medical applications.
Today, it employs more than 400 people, occupies 174,000 square feet of manufacturing space over two sites in Illinois and ships its products all around the world.
Tempco may be ‘born in the USA’ but we have been privileged to distribute Tempco products throughout the UK, since 2002. In that time, we have built up a reputation for ensuring that core products are available ex- stock with a speedy turn round for the more specialist equipment for which Tempco are renowned.
Tempco, a world leader in the design and manufacture of electric heating elements, temperature controllers and sensors, has continually expanded their range of thermal components. It now includes a number of exclusive and patented designs – all in keeping with a concept we share with their Founder, of creating innovative and visionary solutions.
Today, the company manufactures over 30 different types of heating elements and thermocouples with hundreds of design variations. Many of these core products are Tempco exclusives for which they still hold the patents and are readily available from our distribution base in Nottinghamshire
In addition to ‘standard’ products, Tempco also have an on-site foundry, machine shop and fabrication unit for producing bespoke products. All aimed at OEM and end users, primarily in the plastics, rubber, packaging, medical and food service industries.
Although Tempco may be ‘born in the USA’, its renowned products are imported by us directly from their Chicago factory for distribution throughout the UK.
